# GET /process/step

This API is similar to `[PUT /process/step](../../processGuide/topics/c_processStep)`, but it does not accept a payload to continue a Process.

During the [Onboard & Authenticate User with Social](../../processGuide/topics/c_onboardAuthenticateUserSocial) Process, client applications are expected to redirect to the URL, provided by Digital Identity Management in the `requestUrl` parameter. This URL redirects to the specified social provider. The user is prompted to authenticate into their social profile, and grant access for Digital Identity Management to read basic information (their name, email address, etc). The social provider then redirects back to your client, and passes along an authorization `code` and `state`. Your client then needs to call this API in order for Digital Identity Management to independently verify the authorization code, and complete the user journey:
