# About Service Providers

Any type of email/sms provider(s) can be used to process, dispatch and deliver notification messages to an specific end user or group within the tenant. Digital Identity Management offers a provider interface from within the [Admin console](adminPortal) to configure/test your provider configurations and services (dispatch/delivery).

In non-production environments, you may configure your external SMTP server/email service or use Digital Identity Management's email service. The Digital Identity Management email service is a limited delivery system and only available in a non-production environment such as PDT. For production environments, you must setup your own email service using your external provider settings.

## Manage Providers

Each type of provider can be integrated into Digital Identity Management by configuring your own organization's settings in the [**Admin console**](adminPortal):

* [Configure an Email Provider](providerEmail): Use the Digital Identity Management email service (PDT) or configure a SMTP server to use your email service in both non-production/production environments. Send a test email message to verify your configuration in all environments.
* [Configure a SMS Provider](providerSms): Use the Digital Identity Management SMS service (SMS-to-email) or configure a SMS server to leverage your SMS service in both non-production/production environments. Send a test email message to verify your configuration in all environments.
