# Integrating with Digital Identity Management

This section provides information to developers who want to integrate with Digital Identity Management, and to build identity and access management components into their applications.

Digital Identity Management enables developers to implement essential user lifecycle management capabilities like onboarding, authentication, password management, and user profile self-service into their applications. Your organization can capture and target a loyal user base with offerings that provide secure access to protected API resources, and enable Single Sign-on (SSO) across multiple applications, access to Digital Identity Management's REST APIs, multi-step Processes, and user data store in a secure cloud environment.

## How It Works

When your organization onboards with Digital Identity Management, we provision you as a tenant in the cloud and serve as your identity provider (IdP). As your IdP service, we will store and manage digital user identities, and provide you with Digital Identity Management APIs and Processes that allow your end users to onboard, authenticate, self-manage, and securely connect with resources based on entitlements (roles/permissions). As a tenant, you have access to a variety of solutions to leverage in your applications, including:

* Cloud data store wherein all your Users and other Digital Identity Management data entities are provisioned and stored
  * You can provision Custom Data fields to store on User entities (for example, viewing history, preferences).
  * User journey and CRUD (create, update, read, delete) events on entities are captured in UXDR for business intelligence purposes.
* REST API library that includes:
  * Patented multi-step Digital Identity Management Processes that execute streamlined user flows.
  * Standard single-step APIs for performing simple CRUD operations against Digital Identity Management data entities.
* Developer sandbox, non-production environment for creating applications and running integration tests.
* Production environment for your live applications and services.
* Digital Identity Management**Admin console** to manage settings and register OIDC Relying Parties (RP) clients for Single Sign-on.
* Digital Identity Management Care console to look up users, review history, and perform actions on behalf of customers.

In summary, you integrate Digital Identity Management APIs and Processes into your application(s), and use those tools to onboard and authenticate your users. The Digital Identity Management IdP service, handles all the user storage and user management capabilities for you in the cloud. Digital Identity Management also executes actions on those resources according to the Processes and APIs invoked from your end.
