# Consent and Privacy Management

Current privacy laws (for example, GDPR, CCPA, COPPA) transform the way personal data is collected, processed, stored, shared, and erased across various applications. Consent and privacy management needs to be managed at the user level.

Digital Identity Management empowers users to manage their own consent and privacy settings, as well as manage consent and privacy on behalf of minors. Consent and privacy management capabilities include:

* Enabling identity consent management for every individual user
* Injecting seamless and contextual consent management into user journeys
* Restricting access to a resource if consent is first required
* Supporting an organization to give, manage, or revoke consents
* Giving users the "right to be forgotten" by the IdP and any associated applications
* Giving users the "right to export personal data" for their own ownership

With respect to minors, consent and privacy management are very important if you are collecting or using a minor's personal data in any way. Digital Identity Management APIs enable parents to monitor and control the consents of their children. A minor can, through their soft profile user ID, request access to a resource owned by their parents.
