# Dissociate Billing Account from User Process

This Process removes a Digital Identity Management Account entity from the currently authenticated User.

Account dissociation removes and deletes an Digital Identity Management Account entity, and this includes all Subscription and Feature entities that the Account may contain. The external account that was used to create the Digital Identity Management Account entity (i.e., in the [Associate Billing Account](c_associateBillingAccountV2) Process) is unaffected.

## Process Flow

This flow describes the Process at a high level.

**Preconditions**

* The user is currently authenticated.
* The user has at least one Digital Identity Management Account associated to their Digital Identity Management User ID.
* The user is the **Primary** of the Account's associated Group.

**Basic Flow**

1. The end selects that they want to remove an account.

2. The UI calls the Process, and Digital Identity Management returns a list of User with a list of their currently associated Accounts.

**Note:** The Process response is a list of Digital Identity Management Account IDs. These are internal entity IDs that the user may not recognize. If it has not yet done this, the client application can call the **GET /user/accounts** API to retrieve the list of all the current User's associated Digital Identity Management Accounts (each Account entity in the list includes its properties and attributes), and leverage that information to display a clear choice to the end user.

3. The user confirms their selection on the UI, and the UI passes that selection back to the Process.

4. Digital Identity Management checks whether or not the Digital Identity Management User entity is the Primary User of the Group to which the Account is associated.

**Note:** An user cannot remove an account unless they are a Primary User of Group to which the Account entity is associated.

5. Digital Identity Management removes the Account (and all Subscriptions and Features under the Account) from the following:
 * The Digital Identity Management Group with which the A/S/F hierarchy is associated.
 * All Users entities currently in the same Group, including the current User.

Notes
-
- Accounts, Subscriptions, and Features are distinct Digital Identity Management data entity types. However, all Subscriptions and Features under an account are actually contained within that single Account entity. In other words, Accounts have a hierarchical child-parent relationships with their respective Subscriptions, and Subscriptions have the same relationships with their respective Features. - When an account is Associated from an external system, that account is mapped across the A/S/F entities according to a pre-defined template based on the operator's business requirements. - If an Account is removed from the database, so to are all of its associated Subscriptions and Features. - See the [Associate Billing Account](c_associateBillingAccountV2) Process, for more information.
**Post-conditions**

* The Account, and its Subscriptions and Features (if any), are removed from the current User.
* The A/S/F hierarchy is also removed from any other Users in the same Group.
* The A/S/F is removed from the Group entity, and deleted entirely from the Digital Identity Management data store.

**Possible or Common Errors**

* Specified Account entity was not found.
* Current User is not the Group Primary for the specified Account.

## Settings

This Process currently has no relevant settings that configure the Process API response or Process logic/behavior.

However, additional settings may be introduced over the course of future releases.
