# Digital Identity Management Data Model

Digital Identity Management's flexible, extensible, user-centric data model enables best-in-class user and group management and sharing capabilities. End users can create groups, invite other end users, and delegate and revoke granular access to their Accounts, Subscriptions, and Features. The system extends each User identity with personal preferences, consent settings, and service entitlements. Moreover, Digital Identity Management can federate those settings to external parties (e.g., allow other services to retrieve user entity data upon a user's login to that service) to enable a homogenous profile and seamless user experience across all of the services that a user consumes.

The Digital Identity Management data model includes 6 primary entities:

* [User](r_connectUserEntity) – The primary Digital Identity Management entity. It represents an individual person.
* [Group](r_connectGroupEntity) – A collection of entities (e.g., a group of users within a household)
* [Account](r_connectAccountEntity) – Represents an operator's billing account for one or more services.
* [Subscription](r_connectSubscriptionEntity) – Represents an instance of a service. Cannot exist without a parent account entity
* [Feature](r_connectFeaturesEntity) – A very specific functionality of a service. Cannot exist without a parent subscription entity.
* [Runtime](r_connectRuntimeEntity) – Represents an individual device, either physical (e.g., tablet) or virtual (e.g., web browser).

Digital Identity Management entities are linked to each other by entity associations.

## Properties & Attributes

Digital Identity Management entities are composed of **properties** and **attributes** or data field names and their respective values. Each entity includes a set of default properties, and an `attributes` property that contains additional entity-specific metadata.

In addition to this, any two entities are linked to each other by way of an association entity, which itself consists of permission flags and attributes that define the relationship between those particular entities.

See the entity-specific reference topics for more details on what is captured in each entity.
