OIDC Clients
OIDC client is an application that initiates interactions, receives tokens, and redeems them to access resources.
Your application(s) is registered as OIDC Clients (or Relying Parties (RP) in OIDC terminology) in the Admin Console. In production, each registered application then communicates with the Digital Identity Management-powered Identity App or external Identity Provider (IdP) to authenticate end users and retrieve Digital Identity Management User data from the cloud.
A Digital Identity Management OIDC client allows Digital Identity Management to communicate with your client as a part of your desired onboarding, authentication, and Single Sign-On (SSO) flows, according to the settings that you configure specifically for that client. Digital Identity Management supports all web/native and machine type client applications.
Digital Identity Management implements OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) to support Single Sign-On (SSO) and token-based authentication for multiple applications in a network. OAuth 2.0 and OIDC also supports authorization grant flows for specific application types (for example, web apps, mobile apps, smart TVs). Prior knowledge about OAuth 2.0 authorization framework, and its identity-centric extension, OpenID Connect (OIDC) is required. Refer to the Integrating with Digital Identity Management chapter.
You register and manage all of your client applications with the Digital Identity Management Admin Console.
